V stands for the Value we place on Volunteering

This year marks the 10th Anniversary of the International Year of Volunteers and you are invited to nominate outstanding local volunteers and organisations for consideration for the National Volunteer Awards.

Federal Member for Berowra Philip Ruddock says there are ten award categories, including Young Volunteer Award (18-25 years), Environment Award, Innovation in Volunteering Award and Business Volunteer Award.

Nominations are already open and forms may be obtained from Mr Ruddock’s Electorate Office at Pennant Hills. (contact 99801822)

‘Volunteering is valuable – it certainly helps our community and boosts the feeling of self-worth of the person providing the help.’

‘It’s a case of everyone wins and I think offering the opportunity for acknowledgement is worthy recognition of the importance of volunteering.’

Mr Ruddock said that while most volunteers go about their activities quietly and anonymously, this Award will not only bring acclaim to the successful individuals and organisations, ‘but may act as a nudge to those who may have been thinking about volunteering without yet getting around to actually doing something about it.’

A custom-designed award pack, which will include a commemorative coin and stamp set, will be presented at a Ceremony which Mr Ruddock will host towards the end of the year.
