SHADOW MINISTER FOR INFRASTRUCTURE AND TRANSPORT VISITS THORNLEIGH
Local MP’s Paul Fletcher and Philip Ruddock provided their Parliamentary colleague, the Hon Warren Truss MP (Shadow Minister for Infrastructure & Transport and Nationals’ Leader) with a firsthand view of the problems facing motorists on Pennant Hills Road.
Using the overbridge at Thornleigh as a vantage point, the Members showed Mr Truss the volume and range of vehicles which use this road every day.
‘He was able to see for himself just how inadequate this road is for carrying the burden of traffic which seeks to use it,’ Mr Ruddock said.
Mr Truss indicated that he was very conscious of the significant and adverse impact the congestion has on the district and is having ongoing discussions with the NSW State Government.
The Coalition is keen to find ways and means by which the preparatory work, required to ensure the project is job ready, can be advanced.
Mr Ruddock raised the issue again last week in Parliament, tabling petitions with over seven hundred signatures from people demanding that the Labor Federal Government restore funding in this financial year for the F3 to Sydney Orbital design works ‘to at least allow a start to be made on resolving the serious congestion problems on Pennant Hills Road.’
‘We must keep the pressure up. Remember, the former Labor State Government in NSW refused to match the Federal Government funding, and now the Labor Federal Government has withdrawn that funding. Clearly the Labor Party, at both State and Federal levels fails to give this project the priority it warrants and continues to neglect the needs of the people of North West Sydney and the Central Coast.’
